The piece springs from an intimate and personal exposure to Syrian, African and American cultures. These cross-cultural influences inspire a sense of pride and gratitude and give face, form, and meaning to my work.
The materials used to create will rarely relate to the objects original intended purpose. In concert with the artist perception, the shape and texture of the found metal influences her final project. By shifting the function of a familiar object, the artwork can be enjoyed on various levels. Guided by intuition and controlled by self-taught skills, the finished sculptures include the familiar from an unfamiliar point of view.
This painted metal sculpture is made from recycled automobile steel and fabric.
